The Greater Manchester Transport Resource Unit (GMTRU) works with the voluntary sector, to provide groups with information about public transport, including its role in improving accessibility and meeting other social inclusion needs, and also acts as an intelligence resource for the ITA and PTE, alerting Members and officers to issues affecting a wide variety of community groups.

The Unit's work has recently focused on four areas of activity:

Vulnerable Service Users - Ensuring the most vulnerable members of society are more engaged in the development of services which can reduce exclusion

Diversity and Equality - Ensuring that all Greater Manchester's communities are able to engage in consultation processes

Community Engagement - Ensuring that local issues are taken up by appropriate bodies

Community Transport - Ensuring that Greater Manchester's community transport operators are not only given the support to ensure that they are effective but are better enabled to prove their effectiveness

GMTRU is well placed to provide the ITA and PTE with information, intelligence and links to the community and voluntary sector in Greater Manchester, and to help disseminate relevant transport information to communities across the sub-region.
